Responsibilities

• Histo/Grossing Tech Job Summary The Histology technicians’ purpose is to prepare microscopic slides of excellent quality from human tissue samples obtained in surgery.
• Perform all routine and many complex procedures involved in daily operations of the histopathology lab.
• Also perform clerical and maintenance duties, performs quality control checks.
• Assist the Pathologist and histotechnologist with daily procedures and tasks.
• Perform routine and non-routine activities involved in the preparation of surgical specimens for histologic processing, according to policies and procedures.
• Assure appropriate specimen accessioning and labeling.
• Maintain the integrity of the specimen and patient identification.
• Maintains a clean and well-organized work area.
• Describe gross anatomic features of routine, uncomplicated surgical specimens, ensuring all lesions, markings and sutures are mentioned.
• Demonstrate the ability to handle broad range of specimens with indirect supervision (i.e. gallbladders, oriented skin lesions, biopsies, etc.).
