About the role

The Advanced Practice Provider will provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient care for thoracic and foregut surgery patients, including pre- and post-operative management. Responsibilities also include participating in clinical education for students and new employees while collaborating with a multidisciplinary surgical team.

Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.

Responsibilities

NP/PA: FT position, inpatient, days and weekends

  • Exciting opportunity to join an expanding and highly specialized Thoracic & Foregut Surgery practice.
  • This unique role offers the opportunity to care for a diverse patient population across the spectrum of benign and malignant thoracic and foregut disease.
  • Thoracic surgery encompasses the treatment of conditions involving the lungs, esophagus, mediastinum, chest wall, and diaphragm, while foregut surgery focuses on disorders of the esophagus, stomach, and proximal intestine.
  • As a result, providers gain exposure to a broad range of complex surgical conditions, from gastroesophageal reflux disease and hiatal hernias to esophageal cancer, lung cancer, and other thoracic malignancies.
  • This position is ideal for an APP seeking to develop expertise within a surgical subspecialty while working in a truly collaborative environment.
  • As an integral member of the care team, you will work closely with surgeons, nurses, APPs, and other multidisciplinary specialists to provide comprehensive inpatient care throughout the perioperative continuum.
  • The role includes management of both pre- and post-operative patients, patient and family education, discharge planning, care coordination, and participation in clinical decision-making that directly impacts patient outcomes.

Nurse Practitioner

Require a Master's degree as a Nurse Practitioner, an active New York State Registered Nurse license in good standing, an active New York State Nurse Practitioner licensure in good standing and current national certification as an Nurse Practitioner.

Physician Assistant

Required completion of an ARC-PA approved Physician Assistant program, an active New York State Physician Assistant licensure in good standing and current national certification as a Physician Assistant by NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants)

NPs and PAs will demonstrate clinical competence, superior verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal effectiveness and customer relation skills, computer competence and must have an active desire to learn. The APP will participate in the education of learners (students and new employees), using clinical learning experiences, knowledge sharing and skill training.

Requirements

Candidates must hold a Master's degree as a Nurse Practitioner or have completed an ARC-PA approved Physician Assistant program. Active New York State licensure and national certification are required for both roles.
