The Occupational Therapist plans and administers comprehensive therapy services for patients with physical and cognitive impairments. They also maintain patient records, supervise students or aides, and participate in clinical quality and safety initiatives.
Candidates must hold a Master's degree in Occupational Therapy and possess at least one year of licensed practice experience. Additionally, applicants must be eligible for California licensure and BLS certification.

This is an inpatient position within Saint Francis/St. Mary’s Hospitals Rehabilitation Services Department.
The Staff Occupational Therapist (Occupational Therapist 2) reports to the Clinical Supervisor and provides both direct and indirect patient care services. The Staff Occupational Therapist works primarily with adult and geriatric patients from diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds. The Staff Occupational Therapist with specific pediatric competencies and clinical experience may also work with infants, children, and/or adolescents.
Under general direction and upon receipt of licensed approved provider written referrals, the Staff Occupational Therapist plans and administers a full range of occupational therapy services for patients with a variety of physical and cognitive impairments and functional limitations. Services include patient evaluations using various physical, cognitive, visual/perceptual, psychosocial, and developmental tests and measurements, establishment of therapeutic intervention goals and development of therapeutic intervention programs, and implementation of therapeutic intervention plans utilizing occupational therapy techniques. The Staff Occupational Therapist demonstrates practice competence managing patients of varying clinical acuity and complexity. The Staff Occupational Therapist may seek mentoring for novel clinical presentations or areas of specialty practice for which they are not experienced or certified.
The Staff Occupational Therapist maintains all applicable patient records related to the delivery of patient care services, is organized in work habits, and demonstrates effective time management skills. While performing job duties, the Staff Occupational Therapist may also supervise Occupational Therapy Students, Occupational Therapy Doctoral Fellows, and Rehabilitation Aides. The Staff Occupational Therapist participates in regular professional and clinical development activities, completing 40 hours or more per year. As a member of the clinical care team, the Staff Occupational Therapist also participates in and may lead compliance, quality, safety, and process improvement initiatives in the department, local care setting, and organization.
