About the role

The Registered Nurse will provide 24/7 on-site medical care, including medication management and patient assessments for camp attendees. They are also responsible for maintaining medical records, coordinating care with staff, and supervising healthcare assistants.

Location: Bog brook training area, gilead, maine

  • Key responsibilities
  • Provide on-site medical care for approximately 100 youth and 50 adults per week
  • Maintain and staff the medical room (24/7 coverage rotation)
  • Administer and manage prescription and over-the-counter medications
  • Perform assessments, basic treatments, and first aid
  • Develop and implement nursing care plans
  • Maintain accurate medical records and treatment logs
  • Coordinate care with camp staff, parents/guardians, and medical providers
  • Provide daily health and incident reports to camp leadership
  • Ensure cleanliness and readiness of the medical facility and equipment
  • Support and supervise healthcare assistants (1–2 personnel)

  • Required qualifications
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) License (Maine or Compact State)
  • Minimum 1 year of pediatric, school, or camp nursing experience
  • Experience with:
  • Patient assessments and medical histories
  • Medication administration
  • Basic diagnostic procedures
  • Current Adult and Pediatric CPR certification
  • Strong communication skills with both children and adults
  • Ability to work independently in a camp/field environment

Requirements

Candidates must hold an active Registered Nurse license in Maine or a compact state and possess at least one year of pediatric, school, or camp nursing experience. A current Adult and Pediatric CPR certification is also required.
