The Physician Assistant will practice medicine under physician supervision, performing clinical evaluations, patient rounds, and assisting in heart and thoracic surgical procedures. They are responsible for documenting patient care, managing treatment plans, and providing education to patients and their families.
Candidates must be graduates of an accredited Physician Assistant program and hold an active Alabama Physician Assistant license. Current BLS certification is required, and while cardiothoracic experience is preferred, new graduates are encouraged to apply.

This role will directly support three cardiothoracic surgeons and work alongside a team of seven to eight Advanced Practice Providers (APPs). This is a dynamic role offering exposure to the full continuum of cardiothoracic surgical care- including first assist, pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative management. Key Responsibilities First assist in cardiothoracic surgical procedures Perform pre-operative evaluations and post-operative rounding Manage ICU and step-down patients in collaboration with surgeons Participate in call rotation (nights and weekends required) Coordinate care across multiple sites to ensure continuity and quality outcomes
Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program PA-C certification required Active or eligible for Alabama licensure Cardiothoracic surgery experience preferred (new graduates with strong surgical rotations considered) BLS and ACLS certification required
