About the role

Provides respiratory care and procedures for patients of all ages, including administering medications and evaluating patient responses. Responds to emergencies throughout the facility and maintains accurate documentation of patient care.

We are currently seeking a compassionate, enthusiastic, and patient centered Respiratory Therapist!

The ideal candidate must be a current Licensed Respiratory Care Provider with the State of Illinois, be a graduate of an AMA approved school, and hold a valid CPR Certification. Job Title: Respiratory Therapist

Department: Respiratory

Status: PRN (as needed)

Schedule

  • Days 6am-6:30pm and
  • Nights 6pm-6:30am, must be available for both shifts

Summary/Objective

Provides Respiratory care and procedures for patients of all ages. Expected to know all equipment in detail, including the functions, indications for use and physiological effect on the patient. Responds to emergencies throughout the facility.

Essential Functions

1. Keeps patient and organizational information confidential.

2. Prioritizes patient care and responsibilities.

3. Performs procedures of respiratory care accurately and completely.

4. Teaches patients and/or significant others and share knowledge with other disciplines.

5. Document patient care accurately.

6. Participates in performance improvement efforts.

7. Interprets data and identifies patient requirements relative to age specific needs.

8. Inputs data correctly in our computer system.

9. Delivers care to patients from infancy through geriatrics. Understands and reacts effectively to the unique needs of each patient.

10. Administers respiratory medications and treatments.

11. Evaluates patient response to interventions and acts accordingly.

12. Communicates effectively with peers, team members, patients, visitors & others.

13. Participates in required continuing education.

14. Demonstrates vigilance in administration of medications and treatments.

15. Other duties assigned.

Required Education and Experience

1. Must be able to think clearly during emergencies & be able to function well in extremely stressful situations. Must have the ability to work independently and prioritize responsibilities.

Licenses/Certifications

1. State of Illinois Respiratory Care Provider.

2. CPR certification.

3. Preferred RRT certification, PALS certification, ACLS certification and Neonatal certification.
