The MRI Technologist operates MRI scanners to acquire diagnostic images while ensuring patient safety and comfort. They are responsible for protocol selection, equipment maintenance, and collaborating with medical staff to ensure efficient patient flow.
Candidates must be graduates of an approved Medical Imaging school and hold or be eligible for ARRT certification in MRI. At least 2-3 years of experience as a Radiologic Technologist, including one year in a specialty area, is preferred.
Must be a graduate of an approved school of Medical Imaging; and be registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or equivalent. Be Registered or eligible for certification in MRI by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists or equivalent. Must meet, successfully complete, and maintain the ARRT or equivalent certification and registration within one year of start of employment. 2-3 years’ experience as a Radiologic technologist preferred with at least one year in a specialty such as CT scan, or angiography. COMPETENCIES REQUIRED: Must have interpersonal skills sufficient to interact effectively with patients who may be under physical and/or emotional stress. Must have analytical abilities necessary to acquire and effectively utilize knowledge of magnetic resonance imaging techniques, methods, and knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy. Proficiency with Radiology and Hospital Information Systems (Percipio, IDXrad, LMR, BICS, PACS/Centricity, Safety Reporting, RMS Scanning, etc.) relating to patient information and management. Awareness of hazards within the department, (Magnetic Field, standard precautions, etc.), and adhere to safety standards established by BWH and regulatory agencies.
