The Registered Nurse provides nursing care in pre-operative and post-anesthesia areas, collaborating with medical staff to ensure patient safety. Responsibilities include patient assessment, medication administration, monitoring recovery, and providing discharge instructions.
Candidates must be graduates of an accredited nursing school with an active Georgia Registered Nurse license. BLS and ACLS certifications are required, along with recent experience in Pre-Op or PACU settings.
Position: Pre-Op / PACU RN
Overview: Provides nursing care to patients in the pre-operative and post-anesthesia care areas in accordance
with physician orders, facility policies, and the scope of nursing practice. Collaborates with physicians,
anesthesia providers, and clinical staff to ensure safe and effective patient care.
Skills, education, experience and requirements
● Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
● Current, active, unencumbered, Registered Nurse license in the state of Georgia
● BLS and ACLS certified
● Recent Pre-Op and/or PACU experience preferred (within the past 2 years)
● Ambulatory surgery center experience preferred
Duties and Responsibilities: ● Prepare patients for surgical procedures including assessment, history review, and IV placement
● Verify required labs, testing, and medical clearances prior to surgery and coordinate with
physician offices as needed
● Perform pre-operative patient phone calls to review instructions and confirm readiness for
surgery
● Monitor and assess patients recovering from anesthesia and respond appropriately to changes
in patient condition
● Administer medications per physician or anesthesia provider orders
● Provide patient education and discharge instructions
● Conduct post-operative follow-up calls to assess recovery and address concerns
● Document patient care accurately in the medical record
● Maintain patient privacy, confidentiality, and patient rights
● Follow infection control standards and facility policies
● Assist with maintaining supplies and equipment in clinical areas
● Communicate effectively with physicians, anesthesia providers, and staff regarding patient care
● Perform other duties as assigned
Requires standing, walking, bending, and assisting patients with mobility. Must be able to lift or assist
patients and move equipment as necessary to perform job duties.
Day Shift: No Call, No Weekends, and No Holidays
