The Medication Technician is responsible for delivering care to residents and managing medication administration in a home-like environment. They must document all medication activities and communicate any changes in resident status to the Resident Care Director.
Candidates must hold an active state Medication Technician license and have completed a state-approved training course in drug administration. Additionally, a current CPR certification and a nursing assistant or home health aide certification are required.
Communicates questions, concerns, and/or discrepancies related to medication administration to the Resident Care Director (RCD). Communicates any significant change of mental or physical status of resident to RCD. Documents supervision of self-administration in MAR. Documents/ notifies RCD of administration of prn meds. Responsible for documentation on prn meds and affect. Recognizes and can assist in the prevention of elder abuse, neglect, and exploitation.
