About the role

The Physical Therapist Assistant carries out corrective exercise programs and administers plans of care as determined by the supervising therapist. They are also responsible for documenting patient progress and maintaining department safety and infection control standards.

The Physical Therapist Assistant position is casual, hours vary per week. This position may be scheduled at both the Hospital and Rehab Facility. This position reports to the Director of Rehabilitation Services.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited program in physical therapy assistant studies
  • Licensed as a Physical Therapy Assistant
  • Current CPR certification
  • Must be able to lift in excess of 100 lbs

Responsibilities/Qualifications

  • Carry out a program of corrective exercise and treatment for assigned patients, as determined by evaluation performed by the Physical Therapist.
  • Administer the plan of care created by the supervising Physical Therapist.
  • Instruct patients on segments of the program, including proper use of:
  • Wheelchairs
  • Crutches/walkers/canes/braces
  • Prosthetic appliances
  • Prepare written documentation as required by the department and directed by the therapist.
  • Maintain department policies, procedures, objectives, and quality assurance program.
  • Proficient with electronic documentation/typing.
  • Able to safely provide physical therapy and assist with lifting and transferring patients.
  • Ensure safety, environmental control and infection control processes are maintained.
  • Assist in care and maintenance of department equipment and supplies.

Requirements

Candidates must be graduates of an accredited physical therapy assistant program and hold a current license. Additionally, they must possess a valid CPR certification and have the physical ability to lift over 100 lbs.
