About the role

The monitor technician performs ongoing surveillance of cardiac rhythms and vital signs, notifying nursing staff of any significant changes. Additionally, the role involves documenting patient data in electronic medical records and performing unit clerk duties as assigned.

Position

The position is a Full-Time 12 hours a day for 36 hours a week and every other weekends. The position requires multi tasking and the applicant can be cross-trained to other functions. This position is under the direction and supervision of the Director of Inpatient Services.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy/physiology, computer and typing skills preferred
  • Unit clerk/secretarial experience preferred
  • Successful completion of Basic ECG class is required
  • CPR certification preferred within 6 months of hire

Responsibilities

  • Perform ongoing surveillance of patients’ cardiac monitors, cardiac rhythm and vital signs.
  • Notify nursing caregivers of changes in cardiac rhythm and/or hemodynamics that could impact the patient’s condition.
  • Interpret patient’s cardiac rhythm and document in the patient’s electronic medical record.
  • Hand off report to the oncoming shift.
  • Perform unit clerk duties and all other duties as assigned.
  • Clerical/Monitor Tech is under the direction and supervision of the Unit director and House Supervisor.

Requirements

Candidates must possess a high school diploma or GED and have successfully completed a Basic ECG class. Preferred qualifications include medical terminology knowledge, unit clerk experience, and CPR certification.
