  • Practice: Florida Physician Group/Palmetto General Hospital Position Overview Florida Physician Group, a member of HSA Hospitals (Hospital Systems of America), is seeking a General Surgeon to join our surgical services program at the hospital in South Florida. This is an excellent opportunity to join a collaborative, high-quality surgical team in a well-established hospital setting with a strong commitment to patient-centered care, clinical excellence, and physician support. About hospital The hospital is an acute care facility dedicated to providing high-quality, compassionate healthcare to the South Florida community. The general surgery service provides comprehensive elective and emergent surgical care to a diverse patient population.

Modern operating rooms with advanced anesthesia, imaging, and perioperative support. Integrated critical care, hospitalist, and emergency medicine services. A multidisciplinary team committed to evidence-based practice, quality, and patient safety. Key Responsibilities Perform pre‑operative evaluations, including history, physical examination, diagnostic interpretation, and risk assessment for surgical candidates. Perform general surgical procedures (e.g., hernia repair, cholecystectomy, appendectomy, bowel resection, soft‑tissue procedures, and selected laparoscopic cases) within credentialed scope and training. Provide emergency and on‑call coverage for acute surgical conditions and trauma as assigned by the department. Manage perioperative care, including admission, inpatient rounds, post‑operative management, and discharge planning. Collaborate with anesthesia, critical care, nursing, and ancillary services to optimize patient outcomes and ensure coordinated care. Ensure accurate documentation and timely completion of operative notes, progress notes, and discharge summaries in the electronic medical record. Participate in quality improvement initiatives, morbidity and mortality conferences, and compliance activities. Provide education and supervision to residents, advanced practice providers, and other learners as applicable. Comply with hospital bylaws, departmental policies, and professional practice standards. Perform other surgery-related duties as requested in support of the service line and hospital mission. Qualifications & Skills Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) with completion of an ACGME‑accredited General Surgery residency. Board eligible or board certified in General Surgery. Current, unrestricted state medical license (or eligibility) and DEA registration. BLS, ACLS, and ATLS certifications as required by the facility or trauma designation. Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team-based environment. Strong commitment to patient-centered, high-quality surgical care. Competencies Broad operative skill set and sound clinical judgment across the spectrum of general surgical conditions. Ability to function effectively in emergent and high‑acuity situations, including trauma and complex surgical cases. Strong teamwork and communication skills with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams. Commitment to evidence‑based practice, quality outcomes, and continuous professional development. Requirements
