The Radiation Therapist performs accurate treatment delivery under the supervision of the Radiation Therapy Manager and department physician. They are responsible for following safety measures and providing direct patient care while maintaining departmental duties.
Candidates must have a high school diploma or G.E.D., graduation from a certified Radiation Therapy Program, and current C.R.T., A.R.R.T., and CPR certifications. Additionally, a valid radiation operator certification from the state of Kentucky is required.
The Staff Radiation Therapist, under the supervision of the Radiation Therapy Manager and medical direction of department physician, performs accurate treatment delivery in accordance with treatment prescription and instructions, following safety measures and devices; exercises appropriate initiative and judgement in performing patient care and departmental duties.
Formal training which will probably be indicated by a high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent; graduation from a certified Radiation Therapy Program; C.R.T. and A.R.R.T. certification; current CPR certification. Must have and maintain radiation operator certification from the state of Kentucky.
Physical guidelines include the ability to move, traverse, position self, remain in a stationary position, negotiate steps and be exposed to minimal radiation for up to eight hours per day, assist patients in turning, assist patient in arising from exam table, push wheelchair patients, and assist patient in arising from and returning to wheelchair; visual and auditory acuity; exposure to electrical/radiation/chemical/bio-hazardous materials; move and transport patients safely; maneuver equipment and materials weighing up to 50 pounds; mobility.
