The Certified Recovery Specialist serves as a mentor and advocate for individuals recovering from substance use disorders. They facilitate one-on-one support sessions, connect clients to community resources, and collaborate with treatment teams to sustain long-term recovery.

Schedule

  • Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM Pyramid Healthcare’s Recovery Support Services Division is seeking a Certified Recovery Specialist (CRS) to support individuals in recovery from substance use disorders. The Certified Recovery Specialist plays a vital role as a mentor, role model, advocate, and motivator, helping individuals prevent relapse and achieve long-term recovery. This position may support individuals receiving traditional CRS services as well as those engaged in Center of Excellence (COE) services specific to Opioid Use Disorder (OUD). The CRS utilizes lived experience, recovery-oriented principles, and a strengths-based approach to empower individuals to direct their own recovery journey. Essential Responsibilities Support individuals in initiating and sustaining recovery from substance use disorders through peer-based services Assist individuals in establishing and maintaining connections with community-based recovery supports and resources Provide consistent support before, during, and after treatment episodes across the continuum of care Facilitate regularly scheduled one-on-one recovery support sessions focused on strengths, goals, and wellness Empower individuals to develop self-advocacy skills, independence, and personal responsibility for recovery Collaborate with treatment teams, families, service providers, and community partners to support recovery goals Participate in treatment team meetings and provide a recovery-focused perspective Encourage engagement in sober social, recreational, educational, vocational, and employment opportunities Assist individuals in rebuilding healthy relationships with family and sober supports Advocate for individuals while promoting skill-building and self-advocacy Connect individuals to mutual-help groups, social clubs, volunteer opportunities, and employment resources Provide recovery education tailored to the individual’s stage of recovery Serve as a positive role model, sharing personal recovery experience when appropriate and clinically indicated Monitor recovery stability and assist with referrals to treatment services when needed Support individuals in overcoming common barriers encountered in early recovery Assist in the development, review, and ongoing updating of individualized recovery plans Maintain accurate, timely documentation of services, progress, goals, and outcomes Attend required trainings, meetings, and continuing education activities Perform other duties as assigned Required Qualifications Active Certified Recovery Specialist (CRS) certification at time of hire (required) 1 year of work experience in a substance use treatment or behavioral health setting One (1) year of direct peer support experience preferred High School Diploma or GED required Continuing Education Requirements Completion of 18 hours of continuing education annually, including 30 hours over a two-year certification cycle, in accordance with PCB CRS recertification standards Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of substance use disorders and recovery-oriented systems of care Ability to engage individuals at varying stages of readiness and recovery Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary treatment team Ability to maintain professional boundaries, ethics, and confidentiality awareness Ability to build rapport and trust using lived experience and strengths-based approaches Possession of strong organizational and documentation skills Possession of excellent communication, interpersonal, and motivational skills Why Join Pyramid Healthcare?
