The Patient Care Technician provides safe basic care to patients, including monitoring vital signs and assisting with daily living activities. They also record patient information and communicate with the care team to ensure continuity of service.
Candidates must hold a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license and an American Heart Association BLS CPR certification. A high school diploma or GED is preferred, along with six months of clinical healthcare experience.
The Patient Care Technician/Certified Nursing Assistant (PCT/CNA) provides appropriate safe basic care to patients which includes taking vital signs, assisting patients with activities of daily living, specimen collection, and observation of patients for physical/emotional changes. Other duties include recording pertinent information in patient charts, communicating with other Patient Care Team members to ensure continuity of care, and may function in a role providing constant supervision to patients as needed. Duties may vary according to department expectations and needs.
