The Medical Technologist is responsible for performing specimen collection, processing, and test analysis while maintaining strict quality control and laboratory records. They must also manage laboratory stock, adhere to safety policies, and provide professional customer service within the medical center.
Candidates must have at least 60 semester hours from an accredited college including chemistry and biology, or an Associate degree in a related science. Professional certification as an M.T. or M.L.T. by the ASCP is preferred, along with 1-2 years of clinical experience.
