The Crisis Therapist provides face-to-face and telehealth crisis intervention, assessment, and safety planning for individuals in need. They also coordinate with law enforcement and emergency departments to facilitate appropriate behavioral health referrals and involuntary admissions.
Candidates must hold a minimum licensure of LSW or LPC in accordance with state standards. A working knowledge of mental health symptoms, crisis counseling techniques, and lethality risk assessment is required.
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS Working knowledge of mental health symptoms and how they present in crisis situations. Ability to perform lethality risk assessments and mental status examinations. Knowledge of the methods and techniques of professional crisis counseling, de-escalation techniques, suicide prevention models and procedures for voluntary/involuntary hospitalization. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees. Ability to promote and maintain mutual working relationships with various agencies and community groups. Knowledge of community resources available to clients served.
The Mobile Crisis Therapist must be licensed and qualified in accordance with state standards. Minimum licensure LSW- Licensed Social Worker, or LPC-Licensed Professional Counselor. Must be willing to provide licensure supervision if licensure includes training supervision designation.
