The specialist provides comprehensive psychosocial assessments, crisis intervention, and therapeutic services to individuals with severe mental illness and co-occurring substance abuse disorders. They also participate in daily interdisciplinary treatment planning and provide ongoing supportive services to enhance the functioning of persons served in the community.
Candidates must hold a Doctorate in Psychology or a Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or a related field, and be licensed or license-eligible. Alternatively, individuals with a Bachelor's degree in human services and a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC) credential will be considered.
Participates in providing comprehensive, interdisciplinary assessments, individualized person-centered planning, therapeutic interventions aimed at increasing the person’s level of functioning and enhancing his/her ability to stay in the community. Primary focus of this position is on co-occurring disorders and recovery interventions to assist persons served with addiction disorders. Participates in daily interdisciplinary treatment planning, daily staff meetings and review of persons served and medical needs. Provides crisis intervention consultation along with all members of the team; may provide on call coverage on a rotating or PRN basis. Provides ongoing assertive outreach, therapeutic interventions and supportive services to address the persons served needs effectively. Provides interventions to offer support and guidance in all areas of functional domains: adaptive, communication, personal care, domestic, psychosocial, problem solving, etc. in preventing, overcoming or managing the person’s level of functioning and enhancing his/her ability to remain in the community. Completes all documentation as required by procedures and statute. Participates in regular supervision with the ACT Team Leader and/or psychiatrist to enhance all competencies in this position. All other duties as assigned by supervisor. Units Billed Minimum Requirement: Along with other team members, is responsible to ensure adequate service delivery is provided to all persons served in accordance with National Program Standards, state service definition requirements, and the needs of the persons served. Education and/or Experience: Doctorate degree in Psychology, or Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, counseling, marriage and family therapy, or addictions from an accredited college or university and licensed eligible or provisionally licensed in their perspective field. Applicants with master’s degrees who are provisionally licensed or licensed eligible as clinical social workers, professional counselors, substance abuse counselors, marriage and family therapists, or clinical addiction specialists will be given consideration for employment. LCSW and LCAS staff is expected to complete first evaluation training and provide first evaluations in the community. Psychologist staff is expected to provide first evaluations in the community. Clinical staff with a Bachelor’s degree in a human services with the Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC) credential or eligible for such and able to demonstrate experience in substance abuse services will be considered.
