The Speech Language Pathologist will conduct comprehensive evaluations and develop individualized treatment plans to improve patients' communication, swallowing, and cognitive functions. They will also collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to provide direct therapy and educate families on self-management techniques.
Candidates must hold a Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology and a current, unencumbered state license. A Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from ASHA and current BLS certification are required, with inpatient rehabilitation experience preferred.
Description Exalt Health, an acute rehabilitation hospital, provides an intensive rehabilitation program, and admitted patients must be able to tolerate three hours of intense rehabilitation services per day. Focused on caring for patients with complex rehabilitative needs such as stroke, spinal cord injury, brain injury, head trauma, medically debilitation conditions, neurological disorders, cardio-pulmonary amputations, orthopedic injuries, and multiple major traumas.
As a Speech Therapist, you will play a vital role in our interdisciplinary team, helping patients recover from a variety of medical conditions that impact communication, swallowing, and cognitive function. You will conduct comprehensive evaluations, develop individualized treatment plans, and provide therapy sessions to improve patients' abilities. You will also educate patients and their families on self-management techniques to ensure continued progress after discharge.
Conduct comprehensive speech, language, cognitive, and swallowing evaluations to identify patients' needs and develop functional treatment goals. Design and implement individualized therapy programs utilizing evidence-based practices. Provide direct patient care in individual and group therapy sessions. Document progress in patient medical records and collaborate with the rehabilitation team to ensure a cohesive treatment approach. Educate patients, families, and caregivers on communication and swallowing strategies. Participate in discharge planning to facilitate a smooth transition back to the community. Stay up-to-date on current research and best practices in speech-language pathology.
