Conduct comprehensive evaluations and develop individualized treatment plans to help patients regain independence after illness or injury. Provide therapeutic interventions focusing on activities of daily living, cognitive skills, and functional mobility while collaborating with a multidisciplinary care team.
Requires a Master's degree in Occupational Therapy and a current, unencumbered state license to practice. BLS certification is required, and two years of inpatient rehabilitation experience is preferred.
Description Exalt Health, an acute rehabilitation hospital, provides an intensive rehabilitation program, and admitted patients must be able to tolerate three hours of intense rehabilitation services per day. Focused on caring for patients with complex rehabilitative needs such as stroke, spinal cord injury, brain injury, head trauma, medically debilitation conditions, neurological disorders, cardio-pulmonary amputations, orthopedic injuries, and multiple major traumas.
As an Occupational Therapist, you will play a vital part in helping patients regain independence and improve their quality of life following illness, injury, or surgery. You will conduct comprehensive evaluations, develop individualized treatment plans, and provide therapeutic interventions to address a variety of patient needs. You will also educate patients and their families on self-management techniques to ensure continued progress after discharge.
Education patients on Activities of Daily Living (ADLs): Dressing, bathing, grooming, toileting, eating, and mobility. Support patient development of functional skills: Strengthening, coordination, balance, and endurance. Support patient development of cognitive skills: Memory, attention, problem-solving, and reasoning. Pre-vocational or vocational skills: Returning to work or retraining for a new career. Recommending appropriate home modifications or assistive devices to ensure a safe and successful transition back home. Collaborate with physicians, nurses, social workers, and other rehab professionals to develop a comprehensive plan of care for each patient. Document patient progress and outcomes to measure treatment effectiveness. Educate patients and their families on strategies to maintain their improved function at home. Stay up-to-date on the latest occupational therapy practices through continuing education.
