About the role

The Medical Oncology Registered Veterinary Technician assists with chemotherapy protocols, drug calculations, and the administration of treatments. They also manage client communication, maintain medical records, and coordinate clinical studies within a fast-paced environment.

We are looking for: Medical Oncology Registered Veterinary Technician Have you lost a loved pet to cancer and have a heart to help others avoid the same heartache? This team develops strong bonds with our patients and clients, requiring compassion and excellent patient care. Our Medical Oncology technicians thrive in a fast-paced environment, can multi-task, will develop excellent venipuncture skills, have high attention to detail and will gain experience in chemotherapy treatments. What you’ll do:
  • Assist in chemotherapy protocols
  • Drug calculations as they relate to treatment plans
  • Vertical-flow hood and maintenance
  • Clinical studies/trials
  • Extravasation protocols/safety
  • Administration of chemotherapy, requiring excellent venipuncture skills and IV catheter placement
  • Coordinate and manage client communication/education via phone and email
  • Manage appointments, obtain histories, invoicing, patient discharges, scheduling
  • Accurate and thorough documentation in medical records
  • Clinical studies/trials

Who you are

  • State Registered Veterinary Technician license required
  • Prior veterinary experience required, previous oncology experience desired
  • Proficient in calculations (drugs, constant rate infusions, unit conversions, etc.)
  • Flexibility with work hours and able to work additional hours when necessary
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
