About the role

The Physician Assistant will assist orthopedic surgeons with patient evaluations, treatment plans, and surgical procedures. They are also responsible for providing post-operative care, patient education, and maintaining accurate medical records.

Description

This contract position requires an on-site presence, offering a unique opportunity to contribute to patient care in a fast-paced and rewarding environment.

As a Locum PA, you will play a vital role in assisting orthopedic surgeons with patient evaluations, treatment plans, and post-operative care. Your expertise will help ensure the highest standards of medical care are maintained, benefiting our diverse patient population.

Responsibilities

Assist in the evaluation and management of orthopedic patients Conduct physical examinations and document patient histories Participate in surgical procedures under the supervision of orthopedic surgeons Provide post-operative care and patient education Collaborate with healthcare teams to develop treatment plans Monitor patient progress and adjust care as necessary Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records Participate in patient rounds and consultations

Requirements

Associate degree or higher in Physician Assistant studies Current certification as a Physician Assistant (PA-C) Experience in orthopedic surgery preferred Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills Commitment to providing high-quality patient care Clinic coverage (no back surgery)

Schedule: 4 days per week, primary call 1:4 Monday-Thursday, weekend coverage

Daily volume: 15-20 patients with general orthopedic symptoms

EMR: Meditech Expanse

Procedures: Knee injections, shoulder injections, and reductions required

Minimal OR exposure with occasional surgical assists
