The Radiologic Technologist performs high-quality diagnostic radiographic examinations while adhering to safety protocols and ALARA techniques. They are responsible for preparing patients for exams and maintaining accurate records using electronic medical systems.
Candidates must be graduates of an AMA-approved Radiologic Technology program and hold ARRT certification. A minimum of 1-3 years of experience in a high-volume diagnostic environment is required.
The Radiologic Technologist is expected to produce high quality Radiographic images, under the guidance of the Radiology Supervisor and BMC Radiologists. These films shall be produced using ALARA techniques. The Radiologic Technologist will interact in a safe confidential and professional environment with a wide range of patient ages, cultures and physical states. Essential
Performs Diagnostic Radiographic examination following department protocol and utilizing technical factors to ensure the highest quality result in: Head and Neck Studies Chest Studies Spine and Pelvis Upper Extremity Lower Extremity Abdomen Strong ability to effectively use Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and electronic image archiving software. Follows Radiation safety procedures on all exams, keeping them ALARA. Appropriately utilizes shields to reduce exposure to the patient Sets technical factors to reduce patient exposure and produce high-quality films Use universal precautions as necessary. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to communicate with all of the age groups we serve. Prepares patients for the exam by explaining the exam procedure in a kind, respectful manner. An interpreter will be utilized as needed. Carries out exams in a professional, confidential, and safe manner. Demonstrates the ability to recognize age-related pathology and physical presentation when performing exams and choosing technical factors. Qualifications & Requirements: High School/GED Required Graduate of the AMA Approved Radiologic Technology Training Program. An Associate's Degree is strongly desired. ARRT Certified. Licensed by the state of Massachusetts in Radiography. CPR Certified and able to maintain on an annual basis. 1 – 3 years of experience in a high-volume environment performing diagnostic radiographic examination. Good working knowledge in the field of Radiology. Ability to assimilate changes in technical Radiographic settings.
