  • Performance: The work to be performed under this contract will be at at the 96th Medical Group Campus. HCWs shall receive notification two weeks prior to the reassignment to another location with a 40-mile commuting radius of their assigned MTF. The LPN will primarily perform duties in the Pulmonology Clinic, however, duties may be assigned in other clinics within Medicine Services Flight to meet mission requirements outpatient clinics as mission needs arise Primary duties only involve adult patients .

  • Schedule: The outpatient LPN/LVN – will be on duty for a minimum of 40 hours per week. Scheduled shifts are Monday through Friday between the hours of 0630-1630. Schedules may vary to accommodate demand between these hours. Shifts are for a minimum of 9 hours per day to include a one-hour (non-paid) lunch break. Any schedule changes must be submitted to the COR. Significant changes must be approved by the contractor and may require a contract amendment. The Outpatient LPN/LVN – shall not be required to work on weekends and Federal holidays.

  • Management: When directed by the Government, the HCW shall remain on duty to complete patient treatment where lack of continuity of care would otherwise jeopardize patient health. This provision is not intended to apply to the time required to complete routine tasks (e.g., completion of paperwork or routine administrative tasks at the end of a shift) which are to be completed as part of the normal work schedule.

Scheduling

The schedule or scheduling process is as follows: Duty hours will be scheduled by the Flight Commander, or designee, to correspond with the needs of the department. Any planned absences of the HCW shall be communicated to the Government supervisor 30 days in advance of the absence to ensure that clinical operations are not adversely affected.

Recognized

Holidays: will not be required to work on federally recognized holidays. New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Day, President’s Day, Juneteenth Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veteran’s Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day.

HCW

Duties:

The duties for the

HCW are as follows:

Shall initiate, perform and complete assigned duties in providing care to variable patient populations. LPN/LVN shall be assigned to any outpatient clinic according to assignment of the chief nurse/medical technician.

Shall complete assigned patient care based on the patient’s conditions, use judgement in selecting the appropriate order and sequence of procedures and treatments, and accurately recognize, report and record relevant patient information.

Shall observe, identify and respond to the patient’s needs for care including medication, equipment-assisted care and patient/family education.

Shall prepare and administer prescribed medications and perform treatments according to established policies/procedures.

Shall recognize urgent- or emergent patient care situations, seek assistance from the RN or medical provider and initiate appropriate emergency interventions as directed.

Shall perform support duties for complex diagnostic tests and specialized practices or procedures which include preparing the patient, assisting in diagnostic examinations, prepare/handle specialized instruments or other equipment and monitoring the patient’s condition before, during and after medical

procedures.

Shall precept, which is participate in the orientation, training, and evaluation of duty performance of newly assigned personnel, as appropriate to assist LPN supervisors.

Shall integrate healthy work environment principles that result in improved patient healthcare delivery, education of patients and their families and employee satisfaction.

Shall recognize safety measures and quickly react in real world emergency and exercise situations. After orientation, be familiar with 96MDG policies and procedures for emergency measures.

Shall participate in continuing professional development programs as appropriate.

Shall adhere to the policies/standards of the Air Force medical service and the 96th medical group in meeting or exceeding

Experience

  • At least 1 year of active practical or vocational nursing in an inpatient or outpatient environment post-graduation/completion of course. Experience must be within the last 24 months.

Requirements

established Air Force standards for access. Attend clinic huddles and/or staff meetings as necessary within normal duty hours.

Shall possess knowledge of medical privacy and confidentiality (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act [HIPAA]), and accreditation standards of Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC), The JointCommission (TJC), and Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPGs).

Shall possess working knowledge of computer applications/software to include Microsoft Office programs, MS Outlook (e-mail), and internet familiarity is required. The ability to input, extract, and format data from established databases.

The FRED, COR and/or Chief of the Medical Staff will validate all complaints. The COR will report valid complaints in writing to the CO for action. The contractor shall resolve all substantiated complaints upon notification of the complaint, and no later than the suspense date provided by the CO, or designated representative. There shall be no more than two (2) internal or external complaints per quarter. Depending on the nature and severity of the complaint, the contract employee will be subject to counseling and separation from performing services under this contract.

The outpatient LPN can be assigned to any of the outpatient clinics operating on the 96th MDG campus as required with coordination of the COR and the contract company. The LPN will primarily perform duties in the Pulmonology clinic with adult patients; however, duties may be assigned in other clinics within the Medicine Services Flight to meet mission requirements.

LPN working in Occupation Health will attend Occupational Environmental Health Working Group meetings (OEHWG) and Occupational Workshop visits when requested by Chief of Occupational Medicine or Supervisor. All visits will be on Eglin AFB installation.

Qualifications

Degree/Education: Graduate from an accredited community college, junior college, college, university or vocational nursing program approved by the appropriate State agency and accredited by the Commission on Nursing Education Accreditation (CNEA) or another acceptable accreditation body outlined in the TO. Taken and passed NCLEX-PN board.

Support: HCWs shall maintain current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers from the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross. Certification cards must display the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross emblem. Web-based classes do not meet required standards. Sugar, Temperature, Airway, Blood pressure, Lab work, Emotional support program (S.T.A.B.L.E) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) is required only for direct patient care with infants. If LPN/LVN clinic duties require STABLE or NRP, training will be provided by the 96th Medical Group at no additional cost.

Licensure/Registration: Maintain an active, valid, current, and unrestricted license (with no limitations, stipulations or pending adverse actions) to practice nursing as a Licensed Practical Nurse in any US state/jurisdiction. Must provide documentation/certification of IV therapy training from one or more of the following educational alternatives: Post-graduate level course, Credit for Previous Education or Nontraditional Education.
