The Advanced Practice Provider will manage a caseload of hospitalized pediatric patients in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team from admission through discharge. They will also provide educational opportunities for medical students, residents, and other trainees.
Candidates must hold a Master of Science degree or be a graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program. Certification in BLS and PALS is required, along with at least two years of related pediatric experience in an acute care setting.
The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will be an integral member of the Division of Hospitalist Medicine at Hasbro Children’s Hospital caring for infants, children and adolescents admitted to the Pediatric Hospital Medicine (PHM) service. Working alongside a pediatric hospital medicine attending, the Advance Practice Provider will provide comprehensive pediatric care to patients admitted to the hospital from admission through discharge. Additional management of subspecialty patients will be included. Close collaboration within an interdisciplinary team including social work, case management, child life, and pediatric subspecialty teams are required to serve this vulnerable group of patients. The position is primarily a daytime role with a combination of weekdays and occasional weekends.
Manage a caseload of hospitalized patients with teams of APPs, residents, and supervising attendings. Provides educational opportunities for medical students, residents, and other NP/PA students, as appropriate. BASIC KNOWLEDGE: Masters of Science Degree or Graduate of accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program Certified in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Demonstrates outstanding communication skills, clinical care competency, and ability to work well in teams. Demonstrates advanced physical and psychosocial assessment skills and knowledge of family dynamics. EXPERIENCE: Two years related pediatric experience in acute care hospital setting and preferred 1-2 years’ experience as an APP, and will also consider new graduates WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: General hospital environment with occasional stressful conditions associated with patient care. INDEPENDENT ACTION: Responds to individual patient-care situations demonstrating knowledge and skills acquired through education, certification and work experience. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None.
