Position Summary

Sovah Danville is seeking a part-time, Behavioral Health Technician in the Behavioral Health Unit to provide services to ensure a safe environment for psychiatric patients in a locked inpatient unit setting.

Performs continual surveillance of behavioral health unit monitors and operates the patient-monitoring system.

Monitors dining/day rooms, and hallways on Behavioral Health when occupied by patients to assure patient safety in the environment.

Monitors patients for suspicious behavior indicating the possibility of self-harm.

Reports incidents, utilizes nursing staff for concerns, discusses recent issues, and any pertinent patient details with the covering/on-coming behavioral health monitor technician.

Recognizes patient behaviors in the dining/dayroom and hallway environment that may result in an unsafe situation.

Minimum Education

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

Required Skills

  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Required Certifications/Licenses

AHA BLS required.

Requirements

Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent and a current AHA BLS certification. The role requires the ability to work in stressful environments with minimal supervision using critical thinking skills.
