Technologist I PD - Histology - Laboratory - Vineland

Major function

• Under supervision of the Anatomic Pathology Manager, prepares microscopic tissue slides from surgical specimens for diagnostic purposes, ensuring that all specimens are properly and appropriately collected and labeled.
• Duties include Grossing of surgical specimens, embedding tissue samples, microtomy and slide preparation for routine Histology and Frozen Sectioning.
• Knowledge of automated Imaging System, automated special staining, Immunohistochemical and In Situ hybridization staining using different staining platforms is required.
• Other required skills include computer knowledge; the ability to communicate with members of the healthcare team, including excellent written and verbal communication skills; and the ability to maintain established departmental competencies.
• Actively participates in staff education, training, and competency.
• Knowledgeable in all CAP/CLIA regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

• Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology or related field.
• Successful completion of Histology Training Program recommended.
• 1-3 years Anatomic Pathology Laboratory experience preferred.

Certification/Licensure

• HTL (ASCP) or equivalent, certified, or eligible required.
• Certification must be achieved within12 months after hire date.
