A Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner candidate's primary responsibility is to: Conduct comprehensive patient assessments.
See patients and provide brief psychotherapy & psychopharmacological medication management and refer to other psychiatric and medical services as needed.
Works collaboratively with VRH primary care medical providers, practice staff, and community mental health providers.
Engage the patient and family to develop treatment plans that address identified goals Participate in relevant and ongoing professional training Required qualifications for selection: Minimum of 2–4 years of independent practice experience with minimal physician oversight.
New graduate candidates will not be accepted unless candidates seek to assist our triage element over Behavioral Health, Internal Medicine, and Family Medicine until an appropriate level of experience is gained.
Master’s or Doctorate Degree in Nursing with a focus on Psychiatric nursing.
Graduation from a state-certified advanced practice program specializing in psychiatry/mental health.
