The Surgical Technologist is responsible for working intra-operatively in cardiothoracic surgery, preparing and handling supplies and equipment to ensure a safe surgical environment. This role requires advanced clinical expertise in scrubbing various surgical procedures.
Candidates must have a minimum of two years of scrub experience in cardiothoracic surgery and preferably be a graduate of a surgical technologist training program. Certification as a Surgical Technologist is strongly preferred, along with BLS certification from the American Heart Association.

Position Summary Under the leadership of the department director, assistant director and the supervision of an RN, the Surgical Technologist is responsible and accountable for working intra-operatively in cardiothoracic surgery for the preparation and handling of supplies and equipment to maintain a safe and therapeutic surgical environment for the patients in accordance with the policies and procedures of the hospital and department. The Surgical Technologist demonstrates advanced clinical expertise in scrubbing a variety of open heart, chest and vascular (inclusive of peripheral vascular) procedures. Important dimensions of this position consist of quality of care, professional commitment, teamwork, interpersonal skills, safety, good public/customer relations and a broad professional knowledge. Experience A minimum of two years scrub experience as a Surgical Technologist in cardiothoracic surgery. Education Graduate of a surgical technologist training program strongly preferred. Will consider extensive hospital surgical technologist experience in lieu of graduate of training program. Licensure/Certifications American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS is required. Position Type: Regular Pay Range (based on years of applicable experience): $45.05 to $60.27 The hours employees work determine when a shift differential is paid.
