The Child Care Specialist provides direct support to children with developmental disabilities or medical needs by implementing individualized service plans and documenting progress. Responsibilities also include transporting children to appointments, supporting foster families, and ensuring safety through consistent supervision.
Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED and be at least 21 years old. A valid Illinois driver's license and the ability to obtain certifications in medication administration, First Aid, and CPR are required.

High School diploma or GED; must be at least 21 years old. Six months of experience with individuals with developmental disabilities or medical complexities (preferred). Valid Illinois driver's license and insurance. Ability to obtain training in medication administration, defensive driving, First Aid, and CPR. Strong interpersonal skills: ability to provide physical assistance and respond to behavioral needs. UCP Seguin is seeking a caring and dependable Child Care Specialist to support children with developmental disabilities and/or complex medical needs in our foster care program. In this critical direct support role, you will help children build daily living, interpersonal, and community skills based on their individualized Service Plans. Your work will promote independence, confidence, and meaningful participation in home and community life. As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), you will provide emotional support, hands-on assistance, and consistent guidance. Responsibilities include implementing goal-based programming, documenting progress, supporting foster families, transporting children to appointments, and participating in interdisciplinary team meetings. You will also help maintain safety by providing appropriate physical assistance, monitoring behavior, and ensuring children are never left unsupervised.
