The technician performs daytime polysomnography and specialized sleep studies while analyzing recorded data according to AASM standards. They are also responsible for generating accurate clinical reports and providing quality assurance feedback to ensure high-quality patient care.
Candidates must hold a High School Diploma and be a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) with at least two years of relevant experience. A current Basic Life Support certification is also required for this role.
Education: High School Diploma Licenses/Certifications: Certification in Basic Life Support Registered by the Board of Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT – Registered Polysomnographic Technologist) Experience / Knowledge / Skills: Two or more (2+) years of experience as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) performing sleep studies The position requires occasional or frequent lifting up to 75-100 pounds and carrying of up to 30 pounds Principal Accountabilities Delivers appropriate and safe patient care at a competent level and according to the age of the patient or patient population being served. Prepares for and conducts overnights testing procedures; reviews patient records, examines orders and protocols for study and recognizes chief sleep/wake complaint. Interviews patient to assess current medications, recent alcohol or caffeine ingestion, current sleep patterns and need for treatment intervention during study. Performs complex procedures and special activities and evaluation/testing of all patient populations being served. Adheres to established safety, sanitation and equipment maintenance procedures. Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service. Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff.
