As a Counselor Assistant at BHSN, you will assist residents of an OASAS licensed community residence to maintain sobriety as they develop their recovery and skills to transition to independent living. All shifts are stay awake shifts.

Psycho-education

Reporting and Recordkeeping
Assists resident with case management needs including but not limited to transportation, linkage to other services and discharge planning
Maintains accurate, timely documentation in accordance with Federal/State regulations and BHSN policies/procedures, including those relating to scope of practice
Completes all trainings required by BHSN and regulatory agencies
Attends various meetings/appointments to represent BHSN and/or resident(s)
Meets productivity standards as determined by supervisor
Assists in maintaining a safe clean dwelling
Maintains client confidentiality and confidential health information;
Participates in meetings as scheduled;
Additional duties as assigned.
Your skills and qualifications
Minimum of High school diploma or equivalent required
Completion of additional training requirements including 12 hours of Introductory Training in the Addictions required within 30 days from date of hire
Experience in or knowledge of alcohol/substance abuse delivery system preferred
Strong interpersonal, communication, time management and organizational skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office software and in maintenance of electronic records/charts
CPR certification within 6 months of employment
Must be able to physically move/react quickly, including climbing stairs, in response to situations on all interior floors of the residence and outside
Valid NYS drivers license with driving record acceptable to BHSN insurance carrier and reliable transportation required for required for local travel
