The Clinical Assistant/DME Representative supports physicians by dispensing and fitting orthopedic equipment while managing patient education and clinical documentation. They are also responsible for maintaining DME inventory and coordinating with insurance providers to ensure billing compliance.
Candidates must have a high school diploma and a professional certificate in Orthopedic Technology or Athletic Training. A minimum of 4-7 years of orthopedic experience in a clinical setting is required, along with proficiency in EMR systems and DME billing.
What You'll Do As a Clinical Assistant/DME Representative at OrthoAtlanta, you’ll: Support physicians with patient care and DME needs during visits, ensuring a smooth workflow and positive patient experience Dispense and properly fit braces, soft goods, electrotherapy, bone growth stimulators, and other orthopedic DME items; educate patients on correct usage Complete all necessary documentation for DME dispensing and billing; ensure accuracy for insurance pre-authorization and compliance Monitor, organize, and restock DME inventory; ensure availability of key supplies and maintain proper storage standards Collaborate with clinical and administrative staff, insurance providers, and patients to manage DME-related questions, authorizations, and needs A Great Fit If You… Have strong clinical knowledge and orthopedic familiarity Deliver excellent patient service with empathy and professionalism Excel in detail-oriented work like documentation and inventory Can thrive in a fast-paced, team-based clinical setting Demonstrate independence, initiative, and strong follow-through What You’ll Need High School Diploma or equivalent Completion of Orthopedic Technology, Athletic Training, or Certified Ortho Tech program (or equivalent experience) 4–7 years of orthopedic experience in a hospital, clinic, or medical office Experience dispensing, fitting, and billing for DME Working knowledge of electronic medical record (EMR) systems Strong organizational, time-management, and multitasking skills Excellent verbal and written communication abilities Professionalism, discretion, and a compassionate patient-centered approach Why OrthoAtlanta?
