About the role

The Registered Nurse First Assist provides specialized assistance to the surgical team during intraoperative procedures. They function interdependently with the surgeon to ensure safe operations and optimal patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • West Henderson Hospital is our seventh acute care hospital in The Valley Health System.
  • It is located at the southwest corner of Raiders Parkway and St.
  • Rose Parkway, near the Las Vegas Raiders' headquarters.
  • The 150-bed hospital is equipped to care for patients with a variety of medical needs.
  • Services available include emergency care, cardiac care, neurology care, surgery, gastroenterology and inpatient care for medical needs such as pneumonia.

Job Description

Services as a Specialized Registered Nurse who provides the surgical team with assistance within the Operating Room and other similar settings. Assists the surgeon with specific intraoperative procedures that are beyond the scope of practice forregistered nurses without RNFA education and training. Functions interdependently with the surgeon and applies knowledge, skill, and judgement necessary to assist the surgeon in performing a safe operation that yields optimal results for the patient. functions with the state laws regarding surgical assisting and the state nursing practice act. The Certified RNFA does not concurrently function as the scrub nurse.

  • Other: CRNFA must be obtained within 2 years, if not present on hire. Requirements

Candidates must have at least two years of perioperative nursing experience and hold CNOR and CRNFA certifications. An Associate Degree in Nursing is the minimum education required, with a BSN preferred.
