The Medical Technologist coordinates laboratory operations, performs routine and special diagnostic procedures, and ensures compliance with regulatory and safety standards. They also act as an internal consultant to hospital staff and maintain laboratory equipment and supplies.
Candidates must possess an Associate’s degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Laboratory Technology and be legally authorized to work in the United States. Successful completion of a background check, drug screen, and health meeting is required for employment.

· Coordinates with the Laboratory Manager in compliance and regulatory initiatives.
· Positive and supportive team member to hospital and TMHMC staff.
· Participates in interdepartmental process improvements and process evaluation.
· Attends monthly staff meetings.
· Acts as an internal consultant and educator to clinic & hospital staff in areas of expertise as needed.
· Demonstrates a professional and caring attitude to patients and coworkers.
· Strives to ensure continual compliance with Departmental and Hospital Policies and Procedures and State and Federal Regulations.
· Participates in mandatory in-services.
· Adheres to policies and procedures for infection control, HIPAA, safety, and risk management.
· Maintains par level supplies and restocks as needed.
· Writes/amends/reviews updates policies and procedures to reflect practice and regulatory requirements.
· Adheres to all safety protocols.
· Proficient in Laboratory Information System (LIS) operations, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
· Troubleshoots results and correlates with diagnosis.
· Coordinates and participates in proficiency testing.

· Proficiency in the operation of all analyzers and laboratory equipment.
· Performs routine urinalysis (UA) procedures and backup tests.
· Proficiently and accurately performs micro procedures.
· Performs routine/special hematology procedures.
· Performs routine/special blood bank procedures.
· Performs routine/special chemistry procedures.
· Performs routine/special serology and coagulation procedures.
· Maintains professional physician interaction.
· Performs other duties as assigned.

· Ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements, maintaining adherence to departmental, hospital, state, and federal standards and policies.
· Follows all infection control, safety, and risk management procedures to maintain a safe environment for patients, the public, and staff.
· Must be at least 18 years of age (21 for positions requiring driving, with a valid driver’s license).
· Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
· Must successfully pass a background check.
· Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen and breath alcohol test (if applicable).
· Must complete an Employee Health meeting prior to starting employment.
Education, licensure(S), and certification(S)
☒ ☐ Must have an Associate’s degree in a Laboratory Science or Medical Laboratory Technology from an accredited institution or equivalent. Refer to CLIA guidelines for testing personnel for explanation of equivalency. Standard; Testing Personnel Qualifications §493.1489(b)(2).
☒ ☐ Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (or be obtained within ninety (90) days of hire).
