The Lab Tech Assistant performs sample processing, venipunctures, and laboratory screening tests under the supervision of a medical technologist. They assist with both clinical and non-clinical tasks to ensure the generation of accurate and reliable laboratory results.
Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED and at least one year of experience as a phlebotomist or laboratory assistant. Alternatively, current enrollment in a Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Technician program is accepted.
Overview Piedmont Rockdale is a 161-bed, acute care, not-for-profit community hospital in Conyers that has provided compassionate, patient-centered care to Rockdale County and surrounding communities since 1954. We offer 24-hour emergency care, plus most major medical, surgical and diagnostic services.
Performs sample processing and exempt screening and monitoring tests in accordance with CMS (CLIA '88), OSHA and other applicable regulatory, established standards as may be applicable. Performs venipunctures, and obtains/prepares blood specimens in accordance with Piedmont policies and procedures. Assists with both clinical and non-clinical tasks while working under the direct supervision of a licensed medical technologist/ technician to ensure that accurate, reliable results are generated by the laboratory.
Education H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required Work Experience 1 year of experience as a phlebotomist, laboratory processor, or laboratory assistant.
