Produces high-quality X-ray images by conducting exams safely and efficiently while following provider orders and departmental policies. Maintains accurate patient records, manages clinical supplies, and assists in the training of student technologists.
Requires completion of formal training in an approved School of Radiologic Technology. Must hold current NYS licensure as a Certified Radiologic Technologist and ARRT certification.
Produces high quality X-ray images by conducting exams in a safe and efficient manner. Verifies and follows referring providers' orders while remaining in compliance with the Imaging Sciences departmental policies. Possesses a sound understanding of human anatomy as well as x-ray positioning and the use if immobilization devices when warranted. With minimal supervision, demonstrates proficiency and competence in all aspects of job responsibilities and expectations, and consistently demonstrates initiative to assist in other areas of the department when the need arises. May work with student technologists to sign off on their required competencies while rotating through department. Requires minimal supervision. Completes all associated paper and computer work for discharging patients with appropriate post procedure instructions. Additional duties may include working on special projects, such as new equipment evaluations and assisting in the design of areas where clinical equipment will be installed, or assignment to departmental committees. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Prepares room and patient per order. Properly sets up equipment, positions patients, and determines proper exposure factors to produce a high quality image. Utilizes electronic patient information systems to verify patient name, date, appropriate exam, and any special exam specific comments from the provider. Understands and practices the Dual patient identifier procedure. Maintains appropriate supplies in the X-ray rooms. Produces a diagnostic, high quality image for interpretation by the Radiologist. Transfers patients to and from imaging tables using assistive devices such as ARJO lift, transferboards, hover mats. Maintains accurate patient record keeping by properly identifying images and ensuring images are sent to the PACS system correctly. Completes and bills for studies accurately. May train new employees or lead day-to-day work activities. Other duties as assigned.
