The dental assistant will support the dentist during treatment procedures, manage infection control, and prepare dental instruments and equipment. They are also responsible for patient care, including taking radiographs, charting, and providing oral hygiene instructions.
Candidates must have at least one year of dental assisting experience. A valid X-Ray Certification is also required for this position.
We are seeking a Pediatric Dental Assistant to join our growing, group practice. The duties of a dental assistant are among the most comprehensive and varied in the dental office. The dental assistant performs many tasks requiring both interpersonal and technical skills.
Assisting the dentist during a variety of treatment procedures Taking and developing dental radiographs (x-rays) Asking about the patient's medical history and taking blood pressure and pulse Serving as an infection control officer, developing infection control protocol and preparing and sterilizing instruments and equipment Helping patients feel comfortable before, during and after dental treatment Providing patients with instructions for oral care following surgery or other dental treatment procedures, such as the placement of a restoration (filling) Teaching patients appropriate oral hygiene strategies to maintain oral health; (e.g., tooth brushing, flossing and nutritional counseling) Taking impressions of patients' teeth for study casts (models of teeth) Helping to provide direct patient care in all dental specialties, including orthodontics and pediatric dentistry, Completes instrument cleaning & sterilization and post-op sanitization of treatment rooms Prepares dental materials and equipment as needed for the scheduled treatment Completes dental charting Other duties may be assigned Experience: Dental assisting: 1 year (Required) License/Certification: X-Ray Certification (Required) 401(k) Dental insurance Employee discount Flexible spending account Health insurance Health savings account Paid time off Professional development assistance Referral program Vision insurance
