Provides technical support to physicians for the diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring of orthopedic injuries and diseases. Responsibilities include documenting patient progress, maintaining equipment, and ensuring adherence to safety and privacy regulations.
Requires a High School Diploma or GED and a certification as an Orthopedic Technician or equivalent military training. Candidates should have at least one year of recent relevant experience and BLS certification.
EDUCATION: High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider ORTHO-Orthopedic Technician certification OR ROT-Registered Orthopedic Technician OR Graduate of an orthopedic technician college OR Military training as an orthopedic technician TYPICAL EXPERIENCE: 1 year of recent relevant experience. SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE: General knowledge of orthopedic principles, procedures, views, and equipment. Ability to interpret a variety of data and instructions, furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Basic understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology. Written and verbal communications skills to explain sensitive information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences, including non-medical people. Well-developed time management and organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize assignments and work within standardized operating procedures and scientific methods to achieve objectives and meet deadline. General knowledge of computer applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook). Ability to prioritize assignments and work within standardized policies, procedures, and scientific methods to achieve objectives and meet deadlines Ability to work independently, as well as be part of the team, including accomplishing multiple tasks in an environment with interruptions. Ability to identify, evaluate and resolve standard problems by selecting appropriate solutions from established options.
