Primary function
Is responsible for supervising visits and providing a safe, secure environment, physically and emotionally, for children in alternate care by supervising visits with their natural parent(s) at Elk Hill facilities or another agreed-upon site.
Responsibilities

To supervise visits of non-custodial parents with their child(ren). This includes monitoring and, if necessary, intervening with the parent or child who demonstrated inappropriate physical or verbal behaviors.
To report as soon as possible any problems or concerns regarding a specific client, social worker or visitation request.
Demonstrate sensitivity to the needs of youth and families, flexibility, a non-threatening manner, respect for youth’s and family’s autonomy, confidentiality, socio-cultural values, personal goals, lifestyle choices, and family interactions, and appropriate professional boundaries and ethics

Provide the number of hours per month/week contracted by the placing agency
Complete session progress notes for each session and provide to supervisor, as required
Attend FAPT, treatment team, or family engagement meetings as requested by supervisor
Maintain a driving record that meets the requirements of Elk Hill
Maintain liability coverage, at the level required by Elk Hill, on personal auto insurance policy
Participate in face-to-face supervision with supervisor at least once per month
Work cooperatively with all Elk Hill staff to improve the quality of the whole organization
Core competencies and experience
Ability to work independently and without direct supervision
Experience working with children and/or adolescents
Willingness to travel and work non-traditional business hours
Exhibit consistent personal integrity in dealings with youth, families, co-workers, and agency personnel
The temperament to work with, and care for, children and families with special needs
Must demonstrate sensitivity to Elk Hill’s service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics
Credentials and/Or education
High-School Diploma or equivalent preferred
Maintain valid driver's license and good driving record.
Maintain training in the administration of Naloxone and be willing and able to administer Naloxone in an overdose emergency
Maintain current certification in CPR and First Aid
Physical requirements
Ability to traverse inside and outside of the property and other job sites including uneven terrain
Periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
Ability to engage with mentor in a variety of activities, both physical and non-physical in nature, in both indoor and outdoor environments, and in a variety of weather conditions
Frequently lift up to 5 pounds, periodically lift up to 10 pounds depending on the activity engaged in
Travel requirements
Frequent transportation of a client as needed or required
Frequent travel to other locations as needed or required
