Independently prepare complex and routine patient specimens for processing by describing, measuring, dissecting, and weighing them. Collaborate with healthcare professionals and supervisory staff to ensure accurate specimen findings and adherence to quality and regulatory standards.
Requires a Master's degree in Pathologists' Assistant and certification as a Pathologist Assistant (PA-ASCP) or eligibility. Candidates must possess strong knowledge of human anatomy, pathologic disease processes, and laboratory safety protocols.
Education Master's Degree Of Science in Pathologists' Assistant (Required) and Bachelor's Degree From an accredited training program for Pathologists’ Assistant (Required) or In a biological science (prior to 2005) (Required) Work Experience Previous experience (Preferred) Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Basic knowledge of human anatomy; (Required proficiency) microsurgical techniques; (Required proficiency) pathologic disease processes; (Required proficiency) understanding of safety and infection control requirements of position. (Required proficiency) Skills in obtaining/preparing tissue for evaluation; (Required proficiency) written and verbal communication, computer operation, organization, prioritizing, problem solving, time management, decision making. (Required proficiency) Ability to provide assistance to pathologists in a timely and quality manner; (Required proficiency) use and maintain pathology equipment appropriately; (Required proficiency) utilize good judgment; (Required proficiency) prepare and maintain records, use electronic communications tools and software.
