  • ED Overview The George Washington University Hospital Emergency Department is a 62-bed, 24/7 Level I Trauma Center that provides comprehensive care for patients with acute illness, trauma, and critical emergencies.
  • Our ED features resuscitation rooms, fast-track areas, and dedicated spaces for trauma, cardiac, and stroke care, supported by advanced diagnostic and surgical services.
  • Team members work alongside board-certified emergency physicians, nurse practitioners, and highly skilled emergency-trained nurses in a fast-paced, collaborative environment focused on exceptional, patient-centered care.
  • Job Summary: As a Registered Nurse in our Level I Trauma Center's Emergency Department, you will be at the forefront of providing critical care to patients with urgent and life-threatening medical conditions.
  • Our Emergency Department is known for its fast-paced environment and its commitment to excellence in patient care, teaching, and research.
  • You will work alongside a dedicated team of medical professionals to deliver high-quality care and support to patients and their families during critical times.
  • Main Responsibilities Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in a dynamic, challenging emergency department setting.
  • Perform assessments, develop treatment plans, and implement care for patients across a wide range of conditions.
  • Administer medications, perform procedures, and monitor patient responses to treatment.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Educate patients and their families on health conditions, treatment plans, and preventive care.
  • Participate in departmental quality improvement initiatives and research opportunities.

Qualifications

  • BSN or currently enrolled.
  • DC RN License, or eligibility At least 1 year of clinical experience in an emergency department or critical care setting is preferred.
  • Certification in BLS, ACLS, and PALS required.
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) certification within 1 year of hire Exceptional clinical skills and judgment.
  • Strong ability to work under pressure and react effectively in emergencies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
