The MRI technologist operates MRI scanners to produce high-quality diagnostic images while ensuring patient comfort and safety. They are responsible for interviewing patients, explaining procedures, and maintaining a clean, safe environment in accordance with physician protocols.
Candidates must hold an Associate's degree from an accredited program in Radiologic, MRI, Nuclear Medicine, or Sonography technology. Required certifications include BLS and either ARRT-MR, ARMRIT, or other relevant registry credentials upon hire.
Education Associate's Degree Completion of an accredited 2 year program in a school of Radiologic, MRI, or Nuclear Medicine Technology (Required) or Other Accredited Program: Completion of an accredited program in a school of Sonography with current ARDMS certificate (Required) and High School Equivalent / GED (Required) Work Experience MR scanning experience. (Preferred) Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Knowledge of sterile and surgical procedures. (Required proficiency) Knowledge of MRI equipment and safety in MRI environment. (Required proficiency) Knowledge of radiology information system. (Required proficiency) Basic knowledge of oxygen tanks, suction machine and emergency equipment. (Required proficiency) Licenses and Certifications Any of the following: Registered Technologist MRI (ARRT-MR) or Registered Radiologic Technologist (RT:R) or Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) or Registered Technologist Radiation Therapy (ARRT-T) or ARDMS - American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (Required Upon Hire) and Registered Technologist MRI (ARRT-MR) (Required within 1 Year) or ARMRIT - American Registry of MRI Technologists (Required Upon Hire) Basic Life Support (BLS) (Required Upon Hire) Physical Demands Standing Frequently Walking Frequently Sitting Rarely Lifting Frequently up to 50 lbs Carrying Frequently up to 50 lbs Pushing Frequently up to 50 lbs Pulling Frequently up to 50 lbs Climbing Occasionally up to 50 lbs Balancing Occasionally Stooping Frequently Kneeling Frequently Crouching Frequently Crawling Occasionally Reaching Frequently Handling Frequently Grasping Frequently Feeling Constantly Talking Constantly Hearing Constantly Repetitive Motions Constantly Eye/Hand/Foot Coordination Constantly Travel Requirements 10%25
