Provides comprehensive direct care for patients with abdominal ostomies, complex wounds, fistulas, and pressure ulcers. Coordinates patient care, performs stoma marking, and provides education to patients and families regarding self-care management.
Requires a current Registered Nurse license in the State of Utah and at least two years of wound care experience. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.
Essential Functions Provides comprehensive direct care for patients with abdominal ostomies, complex wounds, fistulas, pressure ulcers and skin integrity problems. Pre-operative counseling and stoma marking for patients undergoing ostomy surgery. Ensures coordination and continuity of patient care for patients with ostomy, complex wounds, fistulas, pressure ulcers and skin integrity problems. Provides education to patient/family regarding ostomy and wound self-care management. Participates in discharge planning for wound and ostomy patients. Evaluates new and current products related to job. Clinical preceptor for new RN's as requested. Provides educational programs for clinical staff in wound and or ostomy care as requested. At the discretion of department operational and patient care needs, this position is required to work rotating schedules, which may include variable hours, weekends, nights, and holidays to meet the staffing and patient care demands of a 24/7 complex health system. Regular, reliable, and punctual attendance during assigned shifts is considered an essential function of the role. Ability to deal with the hazards involved in assessing and providing care to patients. Demonstrated knowledge of the principles of life span growth and development and the ability to assess data regarding the patient's status and provide care as described in the department's policies and procedures manual.
