The counselor facilitates group therapy sessions focused on addiction recovery, relapse prevention, and coping strategies while monitoring client progress and behavior. They are also responsible for maintaining accurate clinical documentation and contributing to the upkeep of the residential facility.
A high school diploma is required, with a bachelor's or associate degree and relevant experience preferred. Candidates should possess strong interpersonal skills and familiarity with addiction treatment models, with CASAC or CASAC-T certification being highly desirable.

The Substance Use Group Counselor to facilitate group therapy sessions for individuals struggling with substance use disorders. The counselor will provide education, support, and guidance to help clients develop coping strategies and work toward recovery. This role involves working closely with clients, families, and multidisciplinary teams to promote a supportive and structured treatment environment.
Facilitate group counseling sessions focused on addiction recovery, relapse prevention, coping skills, and mental health. Monitors client interaction and behaviors. Provides a role model for the program participants. Writes group and individual progress notes to document their interactions and services completed. Responsible for contributing to the upkeep and cleanliness of the residence. Completes all required documentation, in timelines in accordance with program standards. Provide a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental environment for clients to share and grow. Educate clients about substance use disorders, mental health, and healthy coping mechanisms. Monitor clients’ progress, behavior, and engagement in group therapy. Maintain accurate and confidential records of client progress and participation. Recognize and respond to crisis situations appropriately, including referrals for higher levels of care if necessary. Stay updated on best practices in substance abuse treatment and incorporate new methods into counseling sessions. Completes all required documentation, in timelines in accordance with program standards
Skills: Strong interpersonal, communication, and conflict-resolution skills. Knowledge of addiction treatment models, relapse prevention strategies, and mental health disorders. Ability to create a positive, inclusive, and structured group environment. Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) and documentation requirements.
HS Diploma required. Bachelors or Associates and/or related experience preferred. CASAC or CASAC-T preferred but not required.
Experience: At least 1-2 years of experience in substance abuse counseling or group facilitation preferred
Schedule may include evenings or weekends to accommodate client needs. Ability to handle emotionally charged situations with professionalism and empathy.
$25.00-$27.00 per hour
