The Pharmacy Technician is responsible for supporting pharmacy operations and medication-related processes to ensure the accurate, timely, and compliant preparation, coordination, and delivery of medications and related services. This role assists with medication reconciliation, documentation, inventory management, quality control, and participant and staff support related to pharmacy services. The Pharmacy Technician works closely with clinical teams, pharmacy partners, and operational stakeholders to promote safe medication practices, efficient workflow, and continuity of care.
Prepare, deliver, and distribute medications accurately and in a timely manner in accordance with established policies, procedures, and safety standards. Support medication management processes by updating medication information in the electronic medical record, assisting with medication reconciliation, and maintaining accurate pharmacy-related documentation. Coordinate medication-related services for participants and care teams, including responding to questions, supporting refill requests, tracking deliveries, and escalating issues as appropriate. Assist with compounding and preparation of sterile products in accordance with applicable procedures, best practices, and safety requirements. Maintain the medication stock room and support inventory management activities, including organization, quality checks, supply monitoring, and stock control. Collaborate with clinic teams, pharmacy partners, and other internal stakeholders to clarify medication orders, resolve issues, and support efficient pharmacy operations Serve as a point of contact for center and clinic staff regarding pharmacy-related questions, operational support needs, and issue escalation. Conduct quality control activities, including review of medication deliveries and related processes, to ensure service accuracy, compliance, and continuity of care. Provide education and support to participants regarding pharmacy services, medication delivery processes, and related coordination needs. Maintain accurate reports, records, and compliance documentation and perform other pharmacy support activities as needed to support safe, effective, and compliant operations. QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE: Experience Required: Certification from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) 2 or more years of experience as a pharmacy technician Prior experience in a pharmacy or healthcare setting Strong understanding of pharmacy practices, medication delivery, and sterile compounding techniques Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with participants, healthcare teams, and staff Proficiency in using electronic medical records Ability to prioritize tasks and manage workflow in a fast-paced environment Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in medication preparation and delivery Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred Tuberculosis Screening Policy To ensure the health and safety of our members, if you are selected for this position, your job offer with SCAN will be contingent on providing proof of Tuberculosis screening upon hire or providing proof of a negative screening within the last year.
