Performs therapeutic, diagnostic, and emergency respiratory care procedures for patients with respiratory insufficiencies. Collaborates with healthcare providers to implement patient care plans and ensure safety and privacy.
Requires a degree from a CoARC-accredited respiratory care program and a CA Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner license. Candidates should have 2 years of relevant experience and BLS certification, with ACLS, PALS, and NRP preferred.
EDUCATION: Other: Graduate of a two-year respiratory care program accredited by the Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) (may be evidenced by RCP/RRT/CRT license) CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE: CA Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) preferred Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred TYPICAL EXPERIENCE: 2 years of recent relevant experience. SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE Knowledge of respiratory therapy principles, procedures, views, and equipment, including some experience responding to traumas and various hospital emergencies. Ability to interpret a variety of data and instructions, furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Capable of performing routine or emergency respiratory care as well as a basic understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology. Possess written and verbal communications skills to explain sensitive information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences, including non-medical people. Well-developed time management and organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize assignments and work within standardized operating procedures and scientific methods to achieve objectives and meet deadline General knowledge of computer applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook), electronic health records (EHR), and EPIC. Prioritize assignments and work within standardized policies, procedures, and scientific methods to achieve objectives and meet deadlines. Work independently, as well as be part of the team, including accomplishing multiple tasks in an environment with interruptions. Identify, evaluate and resolve standard problems by selecting appropriate solutions from established options. Ensure the privacy of each patient’s protected health information (PHI). Build collaborate relationships with peers and other healthcare providers to achieve departmental and corporate objectives. Function effectively and perform this position in an emergency situation.
