Conducts patient interviews to assess medical, psychological, and social histories to identify needs and resources. Collaborates with an interdisciplinary team to provide psychosocial interventions and coordinate care and discharge planning.
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Social Work (BSW) from a CSWE-accredited program. LBSW licensure from the Maryland Board of Social Work Examiners is preferred, but no prior experience is required.
Job Requirements **This position comes with a $15,000 Sign-On Bonus**
Demonstrate basic knowledge on how to act on behalf of the patient to improve the quality of life and functioning while assuring the patient’s rights. Demonstrate skill in a) general social work and/or case management practice areas; b) completing basic social work functions such as assessment, resource planning, case management, psychoeducation, referral, information gathering, supportive counseling, consultation, advocacy; c) effective problem solving d) communications both written and oral; and e) age appropriate interpersonal interactions (patients may range from newborn to geriatric adult). Ability to a) communicate and collaborate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders (i.e. colleagues, medical staff, liaisons, patient, family); b) assess, adapt, and calmly respond to changing and/or crisis environment; c) make decisions consistent with current policies, procedures, and ethical standards while operating under direct supervision; d) prioritize work assignments and manage time effectively to complete duties; and (e) understand and follow written and verbal instruction. Adhere to the professional principles and standards of practice consistent with underlying core values of the profession, as outlined by the NASW Code of Ethics, and with the policies and procedures in place within the University of Maryland Medical System.
Education, Experience and Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Social Work (BSW) accredited by Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). LBSW (Bachelor Social Worker) licensure from the Maryland Board of Social Work Examiners preferred. No prior Social Work experience required.
