Respiratory Therapist Grad

Qualifications

Graduation from an AMA approved program by the National Board of Respiratory Care in Respiratory Therapy is required by hospital orientation date. Must have application submitted to take the NBRC TMC exam by the date of hire. Current BLS CPR certification required. Working Conditions May be exposed to frequent interruptions and multiple crisis situations. May be physically or verbally abused by patients. Expected to work on rotating shifts including weekends and holidays as necessary. Potential for regular exposure to communicable diseases and hazardous materials, requiring the observance of Standard (Universal) Precautions and safe handling practices. This position has been classified as high exposure risk and requires the completion of an annual respirator mask fitting. Physical Requirements (per eight hour shift) Standing, sitting, ascending/descending stairs and walking is required 0 - 8 hours per shift. Involved heavy lifting, carrying, pushing (on rollers up to 200 lbs.) and pulling (up to and in excess of 100 lbs.) 0 - 3 hours per shift in accordance with Safe Patient Lifting policy. Manual dexterity for operating equipment which includes reaching for, fingering, grasping and handling equipment/supplies 0 - 5 hours per shift. Requires hearing/listening to differentiate sounds 0 - 5 hours per shift. Visual acuity is necessary to read labels, charts, and documents and use various instruments 0 - 8 hours per shift.
