Candidates must hold a Master's degree from an accredited PA or NP program with appropriate state licensure and DEA registration. Preference is given to those with over 5 years of experience in an orthopedic setting.

OSMC is currently offering two exciting opportunities for Advanced Practice Providers (APP) to join our organization. An Advanced Practice Provider (APP) refers to a healthcare professional, including a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant, who has advanced training and can provide an advanced level of medical tasks independently and collaborates with a physician. The APP will assess and treat patients using advanced clinical knowledge and skills to identify abnormal conditions, order and analyze diagnostic images, educate on pre and post operative care, diagnose health problems, develop and implement treatment plans, evaluate patient outcomes, and collaborate with or refer to physicians in the practice and community, as well as assist orthopedic surgeons during surgical procedures, wound closure and casting.
We have one position based within the local Elkhart hospital and the other position based within our OSMC clinic setting.
The clinic-based position will be primarily located at our Elkhart California Road corporate office; however, the ideal candidate must be willing to travel between OSMC locations, including Elkhart, Goshen, Granger, Nappanee, and Middlebury.
The hospital-based position will be located within the Elkhart, Indiana hospital. This role will create plans with close collaboration with the surgeon in attendance, and refer and collaborate with the emergency department physician, the hospitalist team, and other supporting specialties, such as general surgery, cardiology, trauma, urology, nephrology, hematology, and oncology as well as manage daily progress notes on our patients. Independently the ideal person will also construct patient castings, joint injections, aspirations and manage wound vac placements.
Both positions will report directly to the practice physicians, with a dotted-line reporting relationship to the Chief Operating Officer.
The ideal candidate will have 5+ years' experience in an Ortho setting is preferred with a Master's Degree from an accredited (ARC-PA) Physician Assistant program, a Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA), State licensure as a Physician Assistant, a Controlled substance license and DEA registration, CSR Prescriptive Authority, Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) or the following Nurse Practitioner educational requirements of a Master's Degree from an accredited (APRN) Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Program, Certification as an Adult or Family Advanced Practitioner through the American Nurse Credentialing Center (ANCC), the Nurse Practitioner Credentialing Center (NPCC) or the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), State licensure as an APRN, Controlled substance license and DEA registration, CSR Prescriptive Authority, and Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
